The Dance

Salsa means “dressing” and Salsa has many different ingredients. The most important of all these ingredients is the joy, that we really want to feel and live, the one characteristic joy of the Caribbean countries.

The joy, this state of happiness in which we enter when we dance Salsa, is what I call magic, a magic that we all want to reach. Thus, we only need our body to move with the rhythm of the music and this is why wee first need to understand the rhythm of the Salsa.

It is very easy!

Salsa music works like this: 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, …

To turn into a Salsa dancer you only need to do three steps and one break, three steps and one break. That means: 1, 2, 3, break, 5, 6, 7, break. This is how the rhythm works.

It is very important not to dance hectically and paying respect to the two breaks to reach that our body moves in harmony with the rhythm and to feel the magic, the happiness, this state of felicity that we indulge every time we flow with the Caribbean rhythms.

Benefits of dancing Salsa:

Salsa is a social dance which enables you to connect with other people. You may feel kind of strange the first days but this will change rapidly. In only a few weeks you will have new friends and you will start seeing each other on evenings – mostly because the ambience of salsa is friendly, relaxed and natural.

The harmonic movements with the rhythms and the learning of new figures, as well as a combination of dances are therapeutic activities for body and soul. It mantains your body  young!
